5 little things that drive brides nuts...

Bride Fail

So you're all set and ready to grab the spotlight on your big day when you realise that your bridesmaid is actually looking fabulous all dressed up in her demure and pretty bridesmaid dress - and I mean fabulously more beautiful than you! (remember that infamous blogpost?).

So what can you do? Tear her dress, smudge her makeup and muss up her hair? Or just smile, knowing the 'spotlight' and everyone's attention will be on her instead of you behind during the walk down the aisle... which is really not what you want.

What you can do: Determine the hair, makeup and outfit for your bridesmaids before your wedding and make sure the look they're going or wont overpower yours.

Work with your makeup artist to ensure that you look outstanding compared to them.

If your gal pal is really stunning and you just can't compare in the looks department, make sure you wear a stunning gown that will get all eyes on you.

Flowers Fail

So the flowers came all fresh and pretty early in the morning and the place just looks gorgeous all set up. 

But when the actual wedding and celebrations start hours later, you notice the once blossoming beauties fading, drooping and browning in a very gloomy fashion. 

So what looked like a fairytale garden now looks like a drought stricken oasis...

What you can do: Find out if the flowers you selected are hardy and able to withstand our hot and humid weather. 

Even if you are having your celebrations in an air-conditioned room, do note that the flowers still have to be transported to the venue and endure hours of setting up.

Check with your florist what are the best options.

Menu Fail

So the food tasting went great and everyone was happy with the wedding menu. But the dishes tasted terrible on the actual wedding day itself, even though they looked the same.

Your parents and in-laws are upset and your guests are definitely not happy. And there are five more courses to go through...

What to do: Just make sure you have a great dessert table. Stock it up with crazy delicious cakes and yummy treats that will have your guests clamouring for more.

Who needs food when there are heavenly sweets to savour!

Guests Fail

So you've gone through hell getting your glam bash perfect to impress the pants off your guests... and your guests arrive in torn jeans, t-shirts and sports sneakers. 

They look worse dressed than the waiters and ushers. And when you do the table-to-table picture taking, they truly stand out from the rest...in a bad way

What can you do: Enforce your dress code with constant reminders.

List down some clothing suggestions with your dress code on your website and highlight the 'theme' or 'glamour' of the occasion. 

Gift Fail

Everyone know that unless you're exceptionally wealthy, every couple hopes to recoup the costs of their wedding celebrations from ang pows and monetary gifts.

So you're opening up the red packets and tallying up the amount received when you open an envelope and pull out a gift certificate from a suburban departmental store (my emphasis) or an empty picture frame.

What you can do: It's a little impolite but to avoid guests giving you stuff you don't and won't need, ask for cash gifts in your invites; just add that it would be very much appreciated.
