Hotel business cards can be handy. Not only are they great for showing to taxi drivers who don't understand English, some of them have maps on them too, making it easier for you to find your way back. Best of all, it's a lifesaver when you're travelling solo or when your phone has died, since you just need to show the address written on the card to a local for directions.

As many people forget to bring a charger, just as many forget to take their charger before leaving the hotel. So don't get upset if you forgot to pack one. Chances are reception has a whole drawer full of 'em.

Most hotel key cards don't have room numbers written on them, and for a good reason too. Can you imagine if you misplaced your card and someone else found it? If the number was written on it, anyone could break in.
But because the number is not on it, it's easy to forget what room you are staying at. Take a quick snap of the door number before you leave so you can refer to it later. It's a simple but important tip.

Hotel rooms usually come with a couple of glasses handy. Slip your phone into one while the music is playing to have amplified sound. It's free and useful for when you have guests in your room, and you don't have to feel stressed about lugging gadgets in your suitcase.

If your hotel room door has a large gap at the bottom, order an extra towel and wedge it in the gap before you sleep. You can sleep better with no more distractions from other guests when they stomp along the corridors at night. To a certain extent at least.

This may seem like a weird thing to do, but we're not the only ones who have felt uncomfortably dry and cold when in a hotel room, right?
By placing a wet towel near the air conditioner, you've constructed a makeshift humidifier and won't have to deal with dry, papery skin.
