8 Netflix actors that we can’t stop thinking about
The boys we can’t take our eyes off
By Penny Wong -
Choosing what to binge next? There’s really only two items we’re looking to check off our list: first the plot, then the cast. Sometimes though, a show gets a free pass and we’d watch it no matter what the story’s about—all thanks to the actor starring in it. Here are some Netflix actors we’re currently obsessed with and that we’d be inclined to watch, whatever they’re acting in.
1. Song Kang
This is not at all a secret—Song Kang is one of Netflix’s favourites, and he’s often labelled as the “son of Netflix”. After all, the South Korean actor has had several K-drama series that were either picked up or produced by Netflix, including Love Alarm, Nevertheless, Navillera, and Forecasting Love and Weather. The actor is also in the Sweet Home series, which saw the release of its third installment in July 2024.
2. Lee Do Hyun
Lee Do Hyun is also part of the newly released Sweet Home season three cast, but that’s not all he has to his name. The actor was also in the award-winning K-drama, The Glory, which starred Song Hye-kyo and his co-star-turned-girlfriend Lim Ji-yeon. His portfolio consists of other notable works, such as Youth of May, 18 Again, and Exhuma.
3. Luke Thompson
Best known for his role as Benedict Bridgerton in the Bridgerton series, Luke Thompson is now coming for his crown. The Shondaland-produced show has been renewed for the fourth season, with Thompson as the lead. The second son of the Bridgerton family who has, for so long, avoided commitment, is now set to have his own romance arc. Unfortunately, the release of the fourth installment is said to be in 2026, so it will be quite some time before the Regency-era hit graces our screens.
4. Luke Newton
Another Bridgerton boy for the books, Luke Newton, the lead of Bridgerton Season Three, had a glow-up that was equal parts suprising and pleasant. He was paired with Nicola Coughlan in the series, who acted as Penelope Featherington, the friend-zoned wallflower with a longtime crush on Newton’s character, Colin Bridgerton. Her crush is totally valid—season three’s Luke Newton was truly a hunk in crisp cotton shirts and intricately-designed waistcoats.
5. Jonathan Bailey
Everyone needs a dose of Jonathan Bailey every now and then, because this actor is not just known for his enthralling perfomance in Bridgerton, but his acting chops in general. In the upcoming November 2024 theatrical release of the musical movie Wicked, Bailey will play the role of Fiyero, alongside Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh.
6. Glen Powell
Hollywood hunk Glen Powell is busy, to say the least. Besides the Netflix movie Hit Man, as well as his romantic comedy film with Sydney Sweeney titled Anyone But You, the actor has been on an upward streak ever since he starred in the box office hit, Top Gun: Maverick, with Tom Cruise and Miles Teller. More recently, Powell is starring in the 2024 disaster movie Twisters alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones.
7. Lucas Bravo
Emily in Paris season four is well on its way to our screens, premiering on 15 August. Lucas Bravo, the actor who plays Gabriel in the series, always comes to mind as one of Emily’s (played by Lily Collins) love interests, due to their never-ending will-they-won’t-they romance arc. Bravo was also in a film titled Ticket to Paradise, which starred Julia Roberts and George Clooney as the leads in the 2022 romantic comedy.
8. Lucien Laviscount
Here’s another love interest of Emily’s in Emily in Paris. British actor Lucien Laviscount acts as Alfie in the series, and he comes between Gabriel and Emily, forming a love triangle. What can we say—Laviscount’s good looks makes him a formidable threat to Gabriel in Emily in Paris.
