ICYMI: The Burberry FW '20 Runway Show

The fashion house served up a healthy dose of nostalgia in its carbon-neutral presentation

Nostalgia filled the air as models marched through in Burberry’s signature beige colour palette, classic tailored silhouettes, and iconic trench coats – albeit this time juxtaposed with modern silhouettes such as long collarless coats, as well as new prints and fabrications.

Named “Memories”, the collection for men and women was inspired by chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci’s reflections on his formative years as a young designer, from the places he visited, such as London and India, to the people he met and the music he loved. “It is this side of my personal journey that I wanted to blend with the codes and language that I have started to define here at Burberry,” he said.

The collection saw the debut of the brand’s Olympia bag collection, which consists of a shoulder bag in three sizes and a cross-body, all in monogram jacquard, star-appliqued suede and smooth structured leather.

The 800-strong audience included celebs such as Cate Blanchett, FKA Twigs, Naomi Campbell, Mari Natsuki, Yolanda Hadid, ASAP Nast, William Djoko, Burna Boy, Dajana Roncione, Joy Crookes, Lous and The Yakuza, Rina Sawayama and Sippin’ T.
