Besides travelling, shopping and queuing up for things, Singaporeans love food. Of course. From chocolate chip cookies to hip, fusion food, if it’s tasty, you can be sure we’ll go for it.
Over the long weekend, we saw many celebrities savouring delectable food to celebrate National Day, ranging from local delights to National Day-inspired desserts.
Kym Ng enjoyed a national flag-inspired chiffon cake. Cheryl Wee had cute and uniquely Singapore cupcakes (one of which looked like a TraceTogether token). And Chen Hanwei satisfied his craving for — wait for it — durians.
Scroll down to find out more! You might end up with a growling stomach by the end of this post.
While Cheryl Wee was all smiles for the camera, her kiddos Marc Fong and Emma Fong's eager expressions tell us that they couldn't wait to dig in!
This traditional Chinese delight from Cai can be eaten on its own or dipped into sambal belacan for a super shiok and spicy kick. For all vegans out there, check out Cai's Impossible ngoh hiangs.
It's tea time as we write this, and Mark Lee's photo of egg tarts and yummilicious pastries from Nam Heong (he opened this 60-year-old Chinese eatery chain hailing from Ipoh this year) is making us hungry!
But wait, there's more. The award-winning actor even dressed up for the feast, sporting a pair of durian-inspired slippers.
This National Day, Nurul Aini received a big bag of goodies from Prima Taste which included this Singapore Curry Paste. The ready-made paste helps to cut prep time and make cooking much more convenient.
Elvin Ng was one of the lucky stars who had a chance to taste fellow actor Li Nanxing's latest pie creations. They included assam fish, beef rendang and chicken rendang pies.
The good thing about making your own popiah? You get to decide how much 'liao' (or ingredients) you wish to include. Shaun Chen's traditional Hokkien popiah set is from Ahma Popiah, and it comes with the cooked ingredients all prepped for you.
Desserts, anyone? This yuzu rose chiffon cake from Gateaux Gallery is inspired by our national flag - it's easily the most patriotic-looking dessert to have this month.
