Help save the events industry by pledging to #SaveEventsSG

The Circuit Breaker measures and restrictions saw great repercussions for those in the events sector. With all gigs cancelled, including launches, concerts, conferences and exhibitions, the companies are struggling to stay afloat, having experienced a 80 to 90 per cent drop in revenue.

The events sector is appealing for the industry to also receive up to 75 per cent in manpower concessions, as outlined in the Resilience Package. With that – and inspired by the success of the F&B industry’s solidarity movement – the #SaveEventsSG movement was launched.

What is #SaveEventsSG?

#SaveEventsSG is a campaign and a call to appeal for all workers in the events industry, from security personnel, caterers to production crews. Campaign creators Lumina Live!, Mercury, and R.S.V.P. are banding together to rally for help via this petition addressed to PM Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Koh Poh Koon.

Why #SaveEventsSG?

Rudy De Rozario, managing director of Drape Empire, shares: “COVID-19 has greatly affected everybody in the world, and especially the events industry. Many AV companies have had zero income since the start of the crisis.”

Shao Wei Koh, sales and project manager of event support services company Miracle Concept, adds: “Our company currently has no income at all, however we have a lot of monthly overheads such as levy, rental fees and bank loans. Salaries in our business had to be cut very early on, along with unpaid holidays. If things don’t change for the better soon or help is not given, layoffs will be inevitable.”

How to help?

Simply sign this petition, addressed to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Koh Poh Koon. A letter to the Minister will be sent out with 60 companies listed.
