I’m back home. In Charlotte. For more than 36 hours. It rules. I do not miss Knoxville. I do not want to type more than three words per sentence.

FIRST: Here is the progress on my only two commissions..

This soldier has been really fun to work on. The word from the client was “defeated” when he described what he wanted portrayed in the work. I’m thinking this soldier looks pretty down and out.

The Northern Lights has turned out to be a formidable opponent. I thought it’d be somewhat easy given how many skies I’ve painted over the years, but no. The only way I’m going to get the effect I want is to layer this painting like a cake, which means I have to wait for complete drying after every session. Thus making it take longer than I expected.

A hurry up and wait process for sure. My favorite.

The weather has been splendid half the time I’ve been home. Couple days of showers, couple days of incredible sun. Can’t complain. It will be a very green spring this year and I’m looking forward to grabbing a basket and trouncing around the forest in search of potpourri nymphs and fruitberry elves to catch and keep as pets.

I’ve started hitting a new gym this week. If you’re in Charlotte go down to Rampart rd. and talk to Lance Breeden over at Ultimate Crossfit. He will make you ultra lean and ultra strong. I want more efficient lungs, better posture, more functional strength, the ability to fight a full grown puma and win. Lance’s gym will get me there.

Lastly I must say that last.fm is my new favorite site. Go there, sign up and start listening to whatever you dig. I typed in “Dio” since I’m wearing my Dio belt buckle today and all sorts of awesome stuff has been playing ever since. Rainbow, Mötorhead, Manowar…etc.
