The weather in Singapore may make you feel that it's summer all-year-round, but in the fashion and beauty world, the Fall/Winter season is upon us.

If you've been following beauty trends, you'd know that this season is marked by rich, deep colours. But things have changed this year. The 2020 mood is lighter and a lot more fun – from nude lips to dewy or softly bronzed skin and playful eyes.

Here are five trends you need to know and can actually wear in Singapore.

Trend 1: ’70s-style Natural

1/10

Based on the era’s image of the liberated, free-spirited woman, this look is about healthy, lightly bronzed skin, pale or natural-coloured lips, and nude eyes. This is the kind of look we'd want to wear out now since we're going out with masks and might want to skip out on blusher. Natural-coloured lips? YES since we're all masking.

Trend 1: ’70s-style Natural

2/10

Try: Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer, $50

To get that soft bronzed look, go for a cream bronzer that gives a more subtle finish. Use this on top of your liquid foundation or cushion and use your fingers or a brush to buff it out. Remember, start with just a little product so you don't get that full bronzed finish.

Trend 2: A Dash of Colour

3/10

Another one of our favourite trends now that we're all out with masks: a pop of colour on the eyes. Sure-fire ways to make the eyes stand out: with a streak of pop colour along the lash line, with a dab at the inner eye corners, or with a swipe across the entire eyelid.

Trend 2: A Dash of Colour

4/10

Try: Natasha Denona Love Eyeshadow Palette, $98

If you've tried Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes, you'd know how good the colour payoffs are. And if you wanna go bold but not into neon territory, this is a good palette to start with because it boasts bright hues of reds, pinks and purples.

Trend 3: Strobe-lit Skin

5/10

A clean, dewy complexion is paired with silvery-white highlighter applied on spots such as the top of cheekbones, nose bridge and forehead. If you have deeper skin tones, use a rose gold shade or a bronzer as highlighter.

Trend 3: Strobe-lit Skin

6/10

Try: Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter, $60

Anyone who has used Becca can attest to how good their highlighters are. The product feels creamy and applies smoothly, and the shine is super extra. Plus, the highlighters come in different shades, so you can pick one for your skin tone.

Trend 4: Gothic Lips

7/10

Swop the usual red lippie for a dark, autumnal shade of blackberry. Apply it neatly and pair with a clean, minimal face to keep the look classy and refined, not punky.

Trend 4: Gothic Lips

8/10

Try: Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment Lipstick in Rock with You, $40

We know what you're thinking: "Who's gonna see my lipstick when I'm wearing a mask?" Well, you can show your lipstick off once your mask is off when you're eating at a restaurant. This one has a matte, smudge-proof finish to minimise transfer onto your mask.

Trend 5: Under-eye Focus

9/10

Create a retro, doll-like vibe with lots of mascara on the lower lashes, or go uptown sophisticate with black eyeliner along the entire lower lash line.

Trend 5: Under-eye Focus

10/10

Try: Lancome Grandiôse Waterproof Mascara, $50

To create the doll-like lashes, you'd need a product that not only lengthens your lashes, but also volumises, which is what this mascara does. This one comes with a swan-neck wand for easy application. If you prefer to line your lower lashline, go for a waterproof kohl.
