If you’ve tried any products from J-beauty brand Shiseido, you would understand the hype. And if you haven’t, let Japanese model and newly-appointed Shiseido global ambassador Hikari Mori’s flawless, luminous skin do the talking.
Between the brand’s beloved Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate and The Perfect Protector to newer launches like its Bio-Performance Skin Filler Serums, the 150-year-old legacy brand has a bevy of products to choose from. However, there’s one in particular that Hikari has been relying on to hydrate and repair her skin.
“As I have combination skin, I really like the texture of Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence as an essence lotion. Even though it is an essence lotion, it has a moist and silky texture to it when applied. And I really like the feeling as it swiftly blends into my skin,” she says in a “The Habits of Self-Restoration” campaign video with the powerhouse skincare brand.

“I like the fact that Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence focuses on ingredients coming from nature's blessings such as kefir and Japanese rice. I love the naturally sweet scent, texture and the sensation of it that brings out skin's inherent moisture. By keeping the skin's radiance and clarity, I feel like I'm able to become more positive from within,” she adds.
Eudermine was Shiseido’s first cosmetic product, launched in 1897. It has a history of being used in Japanese beauty rituals and was popular with geishas who used it to protect their skin under heavy makeup.
The essence lotion gained popularity as ‘Shiseido’s Red Water’ and the formulation has been continually improved over the years. The current form of Eudermine was launched in 1997 to mark the centenary of its creation. With 126 years of evolution, it’s a product that has stood the test of time and made better with every iteration.
