Juliette C is redefining Parisian elegance in the heart of Singapore

Meet Juliette C, the force behind a French-inspired boutique in Singapore. With a flair for French-inspired fashion, while having resided in Dubai, Shanghai, and Singapore, Juliette’s story is one of blending cultures, embracing change, and redefining elegance for modern women. 

In this exclusive interview, she shares a glimpse into her journey of turning a lifelong passion for fashion into a celebrated brand. Step into her world of effortless chic and timeless elegance, infused with the unmistakable charm of Parisian sophistication.

Did you always envision yourself running a fashion brand?

I have always been passionate about fashion, creating some looks for myself everyday with a “simple sophistication” style. My first career was in marketing and sales in high jewellery and watches and I had no clue I could be a fashion designer. It was only when I followed my husband to Dubai and Singapore that I felt like starting my own business and took this opportunity to create my own label in 2016.

How has France inspired you?

It is definitely in my genes. The French effortless chic has been naturally taught to me by my mother and grand-mother who were iconic Parisian ladies. I would say that I inherited the French style!

What are the differences between fashion in France and Singapore?

I guess the weather makes the main difference — you don’t feel like dressing the same when the temperature is always 30 degrees and 100% humid! Also, one of the main differences is that French fashion is about loose fit and fluid fabrics, while Singapore’s fashion is more about fitted or structured shapes and thick fabrics. Quite strange, considering the weather! My clients always say they are so happy to find light, comfy and breathable clothes in my boutique as it is not easy to find them here! And that too, in natural fibres!

Where have you lived and how have these cities influenced your creative self?

I have lived in Dubai, Singapore and now Shanghai. The main influence of Dubai and Singapore was the weather and the obsession with finding light and breathable fabrics for these hot climates. My first mission was to create pieces in which women can feel at ease and beautiful at the same time. In Shanghai, I got the opposite experience. That’s the place where I had to create my first winter collection with warm materials like cashmere, flannel and velvet!

How do you select the brands to carry at your boutique?

In my Tanglin Mall boutique, I want to offer my clients the French lifestyle from head to toe. To complement my own designs, I mainly select French accessory brands which carry similar style and values. For example, sandals from With My Sands, lingerie from La Nouvelle and hats and bags from Maradji.

How is Juliette C different from other brands?

All my prints are exclusive to my brand. I also select the pantone colours to dye my fabrics with, so all the shades are unique to my brand. And of course, all this is combined with the Parisian touch I love so much!

What’s next for the brand?

With Juliette C, you will always get surprises! I am very creative and I launch a new capsule every other month or sometimes even more! You will never get enough of JULIETTE C!
