If you’re a K-beauty junkie, you might have seen Aprilskin and Medicube sponsored videos as you browse on Facebook. These usually featured different girls applying the brands’ cushion makeup or whitening creams and having their complexions transformed before your eyes. From pimply to flawless, and from dull and sallow to luminous and bright.

The two Seoul-based brands were previously available only in stores in South Korea and international demand was fed via online shopping sites. In Singapore, online retailers like Lazada, Hermo and Zalora stocked a selection of products.

But if you like browsing in brick and motar stores when buying your beauty loot – I mean, who doesn’t appreciate sampling products in store before buying? – then you’ll be glad to know that both Medicube and Aprilskin are coming to Guardian stores here. And Singapore is the brands’ first foray onto international shores, aside from cyber shops. Yay, us!

Medicube is touted as a derma-cosmetic brand that’s specially formulated for troubled, acne-prone skin and its star products include the Zero Pore Pad that exfoliates skin while minimising pores, and the powder and bar soaps that promise to soothe and clear inflamed skin. Prices range from $16 for the Zero Foot Peeling Pack (a foot exfoliator) to $52 for the Red Serum to soothe acne prone skin.

Aprilskin on the other hand focuses on natural cosmetic products and its popular products include the Perfect Magic Snow Cream that visibly whitens skin immediately, the Fixing Tint matte lipstick, and the Magic Snow Sun Stick – a handy sunscreen that looks like a mini deodorant stick and can be swiped directly onto skin. Prices range from $8 for the Fresh Grapefruit Deo Tissue (a deodorant wipe) to $40 for the Perfect Magic Snow Cream.

Guardian stores here will carry 17 out of Medicube’s total of 40 products to start with. And 23 out of over 70 products under Aprilskin. And there are plans to bring in more products in the ranges over time and even launch new products here in line with Seoul.

The two brands are available from today (1 November) only in Guardian Jurong Point, and will expand to other locations including Guardian Takashimaya and ION Orchard starting mid-November. Over 20 Guardian outlets will carry the products by December this year.
