Get your popcorn ready because your favourite streaming platforms have just released a slew of new shows and films for you to watch over the weekend. From Disney+ to Netflix, ahead, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting titles that will be rolling out this May. 

Uncle Samsik

Set in the 1960s in Korea, this new show on Disney+ delves into the story of Kim San, a driven idealist with a fervent ambition to turn his country’s fortunes around. Endowed with an Albright Scholarship, San harbours an unwavering aspiration to propel Korea into an era of industrial prowess, aspiring to bestow upon its people the opulence akin to that of America. Bridgerton: Season 3 Part 1

The wait is almost over. Bridgerton's third season is set to grace our screens this May, splitting its tantalising tale into two parts. Part 1, comprising episodes 1-4, will debut on May 16, 2024, and a little under a month later, on June 13, 2024, Part 2 will arrive to conclude the riveting saga with episodes 5-8. In this series, Bridgerton will focus on Penelope, aka Lady Whistledown (Nicola Coughlan), and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) romance. In an official synopsis released, Netflix revealed: “Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Based on Bae Jin-Soo’s webcomics "Money Game" (published from November 23, 2018 to January 10, 2020 via Naver) and "Pi Game" (published from July 5, 2020 to November 7, 2021 via Naver), The 8 Show follows eight desperate individuals who have been lured into a compelling but treacherous game show called Money Game, set within a mysterious 8-story building. Their goal: endure 100 days in this concrete labyrinth to claim a share of the staggering 44.8 billion won prize. However, every expense, from basic necessities to utilities, is inflated to exorbitant rates, depleting their potential winnings with each passing moment. As they struggle to survive, the true cost of their participation becomes increasingly apparent. The 8 Show will premiere on Netflix on 17 May
