Here is what you need to know about the Singaporean stars starring in Crazy Rich Asians

We don’t know about you but our social media timelines have been blowing up thanks to the recent release of the Crazy Rich Asians trailer. 

Based on Kevin Kwan’s eponymous novel, the movie centres around American-born-Chinese Rachel Chu and her — well, super rich Asian boyfriend — Nick Young.  Rachel is played by Fresh Off The Boat actress, Constance Wu while Nick is played by actor Henry Golding.

While on a summer vacation in Singapore, Rachel discovers that Nick is the heir to a family fortune. However, Nick’s mother, played by Michelle Yeoh doesn’t quite seem to like Rachel. 

Throughout her trip, Rachel meets more of Nick’s family members and learns just what her boyfriend’s life is like. 

Crazy Rich Asians will star many Singaporean actors, including Selena Tan, Pierre Png and more! 

Henry Golding

Although not Singaporean, Henry Golding is based both in Malaysia and Singapore. Henry has become a household name as he's slowly breaking into Hollywood.

The actor married actress and presenter Liv Lo in 2016. The couple are currently based in Singapore.

Henry plays lead male character, Nick Young.

Fiona Xie

Fiona Xie is gearing up for her Hollywood debut with Crazy Rich Asians, after returning to acting in 2016.

Fiona plays Kitty Pong, the gold digging wife of one of Nick's cousins, Alistair.

Tan Kheng Hua

How can anyone forget Tan Kheng Hua's memorable performance as Margaret Phua in Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd? Kheng Hua has mostly starred in television and theatre productions since then.

Kheng Hua will be playing Rachel's mother, Kerry Chu.

Selena Tan

You probably recognize Selena Tan from her cabaret show, Dim Sum Dollies. She had also previously starred in Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd.

Theatre actress Selena Tan will be playing Alexandra Young, a relative of Nick's.

Pierre Png

Pierre Png will also be making his Hollywood debut in Crazy Rich Asians and reunite with his former co-star Tan Kheng Hua from Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd.

Pierre will play Michael Teo, the husband of one of Nick's cousins.

Janice Koh

Janice Koh, who's also a former nominated member of parliament, will play Felicity Young, Nick's aunt.

Amy Cheng

Finally, Amy Cheng will play Jacqueline Ling, the mother of Nick's ex-girlfriend.

Amy will also reunite with former Growing Up co-star Fiona Xie for the movie.
