The moment we’ve all been waiting for – South Korea’s golden couple Son Ye-jin and Hyun-bin are tying the knot today! In a statement, the pair’s respective agencies released statements as well as official wedding photos.
The pair first co-starred in ‘The Negotiation’ in 2018, before landing the lead roles as star-crossed lovers in 2019 K-drama Crash Landing On You. While they were rumoured to be a pair since then, they only made the announcement official in January 2021, before announcing their engagement in February this year.
The first photo of Son Ye-jin shows her in a dreamy lace gown, with gossamer shoulder straps as well as a tulle overskirt. The romantic confection appears to be from none other than Vera Wang, and a look from the brand’s Spring 2020 Bridal collection.
In a second photo, the actress sported a ball gown with a full skirt and a square neckline, while her groom slipped into a black and white tux ensemble with a black bow tie. Sprinkled with cascading floral applique, the fairytale-esque gown is a new creation from Lebanese fashion label Elie Saab’s Spring 2022 bridal collection.
The ceremony’s held at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel’s Aston House in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. According to the couple’s agencies, it’s a private event, with only family and close friends invited due to the pandemic.
Overlooking Mount Acha as well as the Han River, the prestigious hotel is also where other South Korean celebrities like Bae Yong-joon and Park Soo-jin as well as Kim Hee-sun and Shim Eun-ha held their weddings.
K-drama fans might also find the locale familiar – it’s served as a set for classic Korean dramas such as 2001’s Hotelier, The Heirs (2013), and Triangle (2014).
According to Taiwan’s Apple Daily, the exclusive and secluded wedding location charges from US$500 to US$600 (S$680 to S$810) per guest. The entire wedding? That works out to an estimated cost of about S$190,000.
Reportedly, 200 guests are said to be in attendance, including Crash Landing On You’s scriptwriter, Park Ji-eun, as well as Hyun Bin’s close friend, actor Jang Dong-gun, who is rumoured to be the one giving a toast to the happy couple.
Former footballer Lee Dong-gook’s wife, Lee Soo-jin, also posted a photo of the invitation over the weekend.
