South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and wife welcome their second child

South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and his British wife Katy Louise Saunders welcomed the birth of their second child, a girl, in Rome, Italy.

Song, 39, announced the good news via his official fan club on Nov 20. The couple have a son who was born in June 2023, also in Rome, the home town of Saunders, 40.

“It’s been only a little over a year since I met my first baby here, but I’m so thankful that I’ve met another beautiful baby,” he wrote, sharing a photo of his baby girl’s tiny hand holding an adult’s finger. A strap on the baby’s wrist has Saunders’ name on it.

“Our lovely princess was born healthy. Both my wife and our baby are in good health and resting well.”

Song, who is filming the K-drama My Youth, said he plans to return to the set after helping his wife with post-partum care.

“I am certain that such good things will continue to come to me because of the precious hearts of my fans,” he wrote. “I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Song, who is starring in the upcoming South Korean crime drama film Bogota: City Of The Lost, confirmed his relationship with Saunders in December 2022. The two were said to have been introduced by a mutual acquaintance.

He registered his marriage to the former actress in January 2023 and announced her first pregnancy in the same month, in a letter addressed to fans posted on his official fan cafe website.

Song’s agency HighZium Studio confirmed to the media in July that Saunders was pregnant with their second child.

The actor’s first marriage was to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo in 2017, after they played lovers in the hit military romance Descendants Of The Sun (2016). They divorced in 2019.
