Swatch's collaboration between Disney's Mickey Mouse and Keith Haring is anything but boring
Swatch has rolled out the second Haring collection, conceived together with the artist’s eponymous foundation

Back in December, Coach launched their collaboration with Mickey Mouse and Keith Haring — offering a wide range of apparel and accessories. But if the collaboration wasn't enough to convince you to own any of the pieces, its latest iteration — a collaboration with Swatch — just might.
Swiss watch company, Swatch, is set to roll out their latest range with Disney & the Keith Haring Studio. The latter is best known for his revolutionary and provocative graffiti-esque pictograms, lines and symbols. Reimagined by his signature aesthetic, vibrant energy and colours, the collection transforms his work and the Disney icon into wearable art.
The Eclectic Mickey watch by Swatch is also rendered in an oversized Maxi wall clock.
While the pieces sport the iconic character on its front, the watches will feature Haring's recognisable twist in its detail. For instance, the nose on the dial of the Mickey Blanc Sur Noir.
The 1980's New York social activist and pop-artist strived in creating public art. His design language was usually seen across the streets of New York City and subway stations and has helped fund children literacy projects and AIDS awareness campaigns. But that's not all — it's also been said that Haring has always wanted to work for Disney — which explains why Mickey Mouse is a recurring figure in his work.
The collaboration actually marks the second release for Swatch — the first being in 1986 where he designed four watches including the Keith Haring Serpent GZ102 which is now considered a rarity in the market. Soon after, he debuted Pop Shop, a store in New York’s Soho district that sold affordable products bearing his work.
Ahead, we've listed out the funky and bright coloured timepieces by Swatch from the latest collection.
Revisiting Haring's earlier work, the Eclectic Mickey is the most vibrant piece from the collection and has also been said to be one of the most complicated pieces from the range. Here, the New Gent model comes with a 41mm blue case, along with a dial piece and strap covered in Haring's signature lines. More notably, the watch depicts a drawing of Mickey Mouse based on a 1982 piece by Haring on the face of the watch. The timepiece also minimises its timekeeping features while maximising Haring's work – of which you'll notice the time is reduced to baton hands.
If you're looking for a smaller watch face for your wrist, look over to the Mouse Marinière. The watch arrives in a 34 mm face, decked in striking red and white with Mickey Mouse clad in his shorts.
The design, in this case, is printed on the crystal instead of the dial to bring more focus to its design. As a result, the black hands of the watch is made less visible, which makes the art more prominent.
But if you're one who prefers something a little more minimalistic, consider the Mickey Blanc Sur Noir. Taking centre stage on the dial, the Disney character, captured by Haring, is framed in a box against an all-black case and strap. What we love most about this unique piece is that the hands of the watch are resembled to look like yellow paper clips which breathe life into the design — giving it a vibrant and fun pop of colour to its black silhouette.
The Disney Mickey Mouse x Keith Haring collection is now available at all Swatch stores. Prices range from $149 to $283.
