Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling shared that she's married and everyone couldn't be more surprised.

Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chiling's married and everyone couldn't be more surprised since there's been next to no news of her relationship. 

Her husband? Japanese boyband Exile's member Akira.

The model, 44, first revealed her newly minted status on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. She posted a photo of herself and Akira, 37, on Thursday night (June 6), together with a long note. She's also shared the post on Instagram.

It says, "I have always believed that if I believe in love, love will one day reward me. After many falls, twists and turns, we met at a different time - a right time, which showed us the face of love."

She ended the note with: "I'm married! I hope that everyone of you who believes in love will find a happiness that belongs to you."

Her new husband, who was born Ryohei Kurosawa, also took to Instagram to share the happy news.

He captioned a photo of both of them, revealing that the two of them started off as friends eight years ago, which later evolved into love last year. 

Akira added that he was "strongly attracted" to Lin's "sense of responsibility and caring nature" and that she always prioritised her loved ones before herself. 

"It pushes me to be better and I truly want to make her happy. I am in no way accomplished and I still have many things to learn, but because I cherish this bond with her and her family," he said. Awwwwww.

The pair met eight years ago during a Japanese stage play of Red Cliff. Lin portrayed Xiao Qiao, a reprisal of John Woo's 2008 epic war film war, while Akira depicted her onstage husband, military general Zhou Yu. 

Alongside the announcement, Lin Chiling's management has also issued a statement, saying that the couple have not made a decision on their wedding banquet, but they “will share the joy with their families”. 


“Of course, the couple are also hoping that in future, there will be a new member of their family,” it added.

Congratuations to the newlyweds!
