Watches and Wonders, the largest gathering of some of luxury watchmaking’s biggest names, recently concluded its Geneva edition, featuring 54 exhibitors and a slew of ticking novelties. There was no shortage of high jewellery creations, elaborately animated dials, and handcrafted metiers d’art designs, but here’s seven of the most wearable.

Rolex Day-Date 40

At 40mm wide, this Day-Date may wear a little large for some wrists, but it also means more “pearlised” mother-of-pearl to admire. Derived from the oldest segment of a mollusc’s shell, pearlised mother-of-pearl boasts an unusually white appearance and a texture that resembles clouds. Diamond hour markers and an 18k white gold case contribute to its radiance.

Van Cleef & Arpels Lady Jour Nuit and Lady Arpels Nuit

New versions of the 33mm Lady Jour Nuit and 38mm Lady Arpels Nuit join the Poetic Complications collection, with a rotating aventurine dial slowly carrying the guilloche or gem-set celestial bodies across the sky before hiding them beneath a guilloche mother-of-pearl dial.

Reflection de Cartier

More jewellery than watch, the Reflection de Cartier is a bangle where one side of the cuff’s opening bears a tiny dial which is perfectly reflected on the mirror-polished opposite side, hence the name. Available in plain yellow or rose gold versions, as well as three high jewellery models set with diamonds and precious stones.

Vacheron Constantin Egerie Moon Phase

Its soft lilac colour was the result of a collaboration with fashion designer Yiqing Yin, who chose the shade because it was “like a delicate embodiment of a daydream”. The 37mm rose gold case is embellished with 58 brilliant-cut diamonds, with 36 more round-cut ones around the moonphase. It comes with a choice of three interchangeable straps in pastel hues chosen by Yin. Limited to 100 pieces.

Hermes Cut

With its gently rounded cushion shape and option of a diamond-set bezel, the Hermes Cut is the feminine counterpart of the brand’s sporty H08 line for men. The 36mm watch comes in stainless steel or bi-metallic steel and rose gold and is available with a bracelet or rubber strap in one of eight colours — all of them easily interchangeable.

Chopard Imperiale

Two new editions of the Chopard Imperiale show off the maison’s metiers d’art capabilities. The vibrant dials are decorated with mother-of-pearl and enamel marquetry using an arabesque motif, with a sprinkling of padparadscha sapphires adding a touch of glamour. As always, the 36mm cases — in 18k rose or white gold — have been ethically sourced.

Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse Ref. 5738/1R-001

The brand’s classic dress watch appears with a simple black sunburst dial, but the detailing in this new chainlink bracelet is the real draw here. The bracelet comprises 363 elements, and each rose gold link is assembled and finished by hand to ensure a beautiful sheen and a comfortable fit.
