In the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Embassy of France in Singapore and Art Outreach Singapore will be holding a two-day celebration of sports and arts called Artletics. The event pays homage to the inclusion of urban sports in the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, showcasing disciplines such as BMX, skateboarding, and breaking.

As part of this programme, this weekend you can look forward to art jam sessions, adrenaline-inducing urban sports showcases, and a night festival led by Singaporean DJs Kiat and Intriguant who will be helming the decks, complemented by refreshing drinks and bites. As an extension of the festivities, nearby TRIFECTA will also be hosting its first Slope Pow-Wow Challenge 2024 as part of their Summer Festival's exciting lineup of programmes.

Frida Forever Exhibition (4 May to 1 September)

3/6

Seeking escapism with a purpose? Slip on your best florals and clashing prints, and step into Frida Forever — an exploration of the influential artist’s colourful inner world. Strap in for a whimsical ride on the Exquisite Corpse VR Experience that will whisk you away into another universe, all from the confines of Frida’s bed in Mexico. Having suffered multiple disabilities her entire life, Frida’s mission was to transform her pain through her passion.

An equal measure of heart and groundbreaking ideals, Frida’s art is both a challenge to societal norms and a demonstration of human resilience. Immersed in the surreal landscape of her art and mind, we explore an artist’s invaluable ability to transcend their physical limitations by going inward. We dare you to leave uninspired.

“Passion is the bridge that takes us from pain to change.” — Frida Kahlo

Slate Bar

5/6

Named after the metamorphic rock, Slate is a modern Asian Bar that recently opened at Mondrian Singapore Duxton. Here, guests are treated to a vibrant array of fresh, eco-conscious cocktails, artfully crafted by Bar Manager and Mixologist, Lafiama B Wright.

Some of the signature cocktails that we recommend trying from the new menu include the refreshing "It's Raining Melon," crafted with Tanqueray gin, honeydew, and pandan gomme syrup — a delightful option reminiscent of a Midori; the sophisticated "Mirin Manhattan," featuring Bulleit Rye, mirin gomme, Lillet Blanc, and orange bitters; and the tantalising "Daiquiri Night," blending Plantation 3-Star, Plantation Original, orange and lemon oleo, and angostura bitters.

If you’re feeling peckish, the bar also serves a mouthwatering spread of bar bites for you to indulge in while you sip on their lavish cocktails. Our favourites include the King Prawn Noodles, Fried Chicken Cartilage, and the Seafood Platter comprising a fine selection of oysters, river prawns, and snow crab claws, accompanied with a side of nam pla mignonette.
