The tradition of ang pao giving at weddings has always been deeply rooted in Asian culture for as long as we can remember. On one hand, it is considered a universally accepted wedding gift compared to buying a present that the happy couple may or may not like. On the other hand, these monetary gifts are also meant to symbolize good wishes to the wedded couple for a blissful marriage ahead.

While I feel that ang pao giving should ultimately boil down to personal circumstances— such as your relationship with the married couple and how much you can actually afford— lately, there’s been discussion about a “market rate” to help the couple break even.

With that said, sometimes you want a benchmark of how much is enough — especially if it’s a grand and elegant affair held in one of Singapore’s luxurious wedding venues. Fret not, as this article has got you covered with ang pao rates from the top 10 hotels in Singapore for you to take note of if you’re attending someone’s special day this year.

However, do keep in mind that these rates are rounded up to the nearest dollar inclusive of the infamous 9% Goods and Service Tax (GST) and the 10% service charge. Depending on what day the wedding is held on as well as the time of the wedding, the ang pao rates can go higher on peak wedding days as well as on auspicious dates so bear that in mind.
