10 questions to expect during the interview

Most product manager interviews will include at least a few of these questions (or close variations).

  1. How do you figure out what customers want?
  2. What steps would you take to research a new feature?
  3. Describe a time when you struggled to get buy-in from different departments, and how you dealt with that.
  4. Tell me how you would change one existing product.
  5. What’s your favorite method of communicating with the rest of the team?
  6. How do you prioritize your time and resources when you have conflicting deadlines?
  7. What are some components of a great user interface?
  8. How do you know when a product is successful?
  9. Describe our product in 2-3 sentences.
  10. Who are our competitors, and how do you think we’re different?
